Wow....It's been forever since I have been on here.  When I created this blog, I sincerely meant to keep up with this.  However...life happened and time got away from me.  Since I've been on here, a lot has happened.

  • Kaci & Trae came to see us for Thanksgiving and we had so much fun. We stayed up all night (a first time and a last time for me) and went Black Friday Shopping, we went on a scavenger hunt at the mall, we played a lot of Ticket to Ride, which is super addicting and brings out the competitiveness in everyone. and just had fun being together.  We had a super fun time being together, made a million memories, and I loved having them here with us.

Posing as models - Also an item from our scavenger hunt
  • I went to Pennsylvania for 10 days at Christmas to spend time with my family.  It was lots of fun, but I was very ready to see my wonderful hubby when he arrived.
  •  We celebrated our 1st Anniversary in Brown County.  We rented a cabin and just enjoyed being lazy and relaxing and not doing anything much.  It was a wonderful weekend.
  • And the biggest news of all...we found out at the beginning of February that we are expecting a little one in October.  And then we had to keep it a secret for 9 weeks until we could see my family in person to tell them.  Needless to say, we were very glad to have it out in the open.  The doctors appointments have been going great.  We had an ultrasound at 8 weeks and got to see the baby and hear its heartbeat.  What a wonderful sound.  We also heard it at the 12 week and 16 week appointments.  Right now we are counting the days until the 20 week appointment when we will have another ultrasound and find out whether we are having a boy or a girl.  Neither one of us have a preference really...we are just praying for a healthy little baby.  I flip flop back and forth about what I think it is on a regular basis, but in 10 days we will *hopefully* know for sure.
Thats all for now, but I hope to keep this updated better than I have been.

Out of the mouth of Zoe

Before lunch today...
Zoe - "Kala, I have a plan."
Me - "And what is your plan, Zoe?"
Zoe - "My plan is how about Me and Scarlett be in charge today?"
Me (as I'm laughing) - "Umm....I don't think so."

During lunch
Zoe - "Kala, I need a new spoon."
Me - "Why?"
Zoe - "Mine isn't spooning very well."

Oh I love the little things I hear everyday.  Stories for years to come.

My little girls

The two cuties that I am blessed to spend Monday-Friday with. Ages 3 and 16 months, they are full of energy and love, and for the most part, extremely well behaved.  They make me crazy somedays, but one little smile or kiss or hug from them just melts my heart.

Scarlett is such a happy toddler.  Hardly ever cries, even when she falls or gets bumps, which is very often...she's a bit of a clutz.  She's just starting to talk and her current favorite words are "No" and "Elmo".  She is very active and thinks she can do everything that Zoe can and gets very offended and mad when she isn't allowed to do everything Zoe does (for example, she threw a fit when I took Zoe's lip gloss from her because she was trying to eat it).  She LOVES to eat...pretty much anything.  It's one of the things we have in common. ;-)

Zoe is the smartest 3 year old I know.  She keeps me on my toes, always asking why this and why that and how things work.  She knows way more than any other 3 year old I know and she remembers everything she hears.  She loves to go, go, go...always wanting to go somewhere.  I've been working with her and baking and she loves measuring and pouring and mixing.  She starts pre-school, Tuesdays and Thursdays, in a few weeks.  It will be a huge change for her and for me, but I think she's going to love it.  She also loves sugar.  One day I asked her what she wanted to lunch and she replied "probably sugar" and I said no sugar for lunch.  So she asked "well can I have frosting?"

I can't believe I've been with them almost a year.  It's been so much fun watching them learn and grow.  I can hardly wait to see what the next year brings!

first post

I'm completely new to blogging so bear with me as I get things figured out.  I started this blog to share the happening s in my life with friends, family, and any who would like to read.  I thought blogging would be a fun way to share the funny and wonderful moments in my life...from the silly things the girls I babysit say and do everyday to the results of a night in my kitchen baking.
